Do It

In Harnessing the Momentum by Sidney Mccraw one my favorite quotes is, "Don't just wait for it to fall from the sky.  Build a rocket ship to take you there."  Thanks Sidney for that kick in the seat of the pants.
I guess we reap what we sow.
Which means it's time to press on.  Let's do it together.
With a clear view of the goal at the center of my vision the question becomes, "what am I holding onto?  What am I clinging to that will slow me down?"

Victory

Andrew Murray writes:  In that holy moment when our Lord shed His blood in death, and it seemed as if Satan were victorious, the Adversary was robbed of the authority he had possessed until then.  - The Power of the Blood of Jesus.

Therefore Saul took a sword, and fell upon it.  1 Samuel 31:1B

Whatever type of leverage the enemy uses to try and manipulate and control becomes the very doom that falls upon them.

They have prepared a net for my steps;  my soul is bowed down:  they have digged a pit before me, into the midst whereof they are fallen themselves.  Selah.  Psalm 57:6.

There is another principal here that is very important to understand.

Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, and let not thine heart be glad when he stumbleth:  Lest the LORD see it, and it displease him, and he turn away his wrath from him.  Proverbs 24:17,18.

If you recall in the story of Saul and David, David weeped and mourned when he heard news that Saul was slain.

David had refused twice to retaliate against Saul when the Lord delivered him into his hand.  David must have understood what Paul said in Ephesians 6:13,  "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places."

Perhaps we won't rejoice when an enemy falls if were to,"rejoice that are names are enrolled in heaven."  The enemy's fall is permanent.  There is no way out of the pit that is reserved for those who reject Jesus Christ.  It's a permanent prison for them.

Paul was imprisoned for preaching the gospel but he put an interesting spin on it.  He said,"But I would ye should understand, brethren, that the things which have happened to unto me have fallen out rather unto the furtherance of the gospel;  Philippians 1:12.  He used his time in prison to share Jesus with those who were really imprisoned.

There is more than just forgiveness in the blood of Jesus.  There is victory in the blood of Jesus!  Listen to the words of Revelation.  And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony;  and they loved not their lives unto the death.  Revelation 12:11.

Cords Part 7

But Jael, Heber's wife, picked up a tent peg and a hammer and went quietly to him while he lay fast asleep, exhausted.  She drove the tent peg through his temple into the ground, and he died.  Judges 4:7.

Cords Part 6

Great pause.
Continuing on...
Be ye angry, and sin not:  let not the sun go down upon your wrath:
Neither give place to the devil.  Ephesians 4:26,27 KJV.
A practical and vital exhortation.
1) When angry.
2) Do not sin.
3) Don't go to bed angry.
4) Don't give the devil an inch.

Cords Part 5

The believer in whose life the blood is fully effective knows that his old nature is hindered from manifesting its power.  Through the blood, its lusts and desires are subdued and slain, and everything is cleansed so that the Spirit can bring forth His glorious fruit.  - Andrew Murray The Power of the Blood of Jesus.
Do I fully understand and agree with this statement?  Is my old nature hindered from manifesting its power?  Are its lusts and desires subdued and slain?
This is what the Word teaches.  There is a struggle for sure but believers have been given the advantage.  Sin's grip is strong but the blood of Jesus is the clear winner.  This does away with the excuse, "the devil made me do it."
Is that too blunt?  See that little comment button at the bottom?  Hint, hint.
Continuing on.  He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.  Proverbs 25:28.
Praise pause!
Lift up your heads, O you gates;
be lifted up, you ancient doors,
that the King of Glory may come in.
Who is this King of glory?
  The LORD strong and mighty,
  The LORD mighty in battle.
Lift up your heads, O you gates;
lift them up, you ancient doors,
that the King of glory may come in.
Who is he, this King of glory?
  The LORD Almighty-
he is the King of glory.             Selah

Repeat

Bless the LORD, O my soul:  and all that is within me, bless his holy name.
Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:  Psalm 103:2 KJV
One of the things I've been learning is that when I reach a goal, it is important to celebrate.  It is the victories that we celebrate that we are more likely to repeat.

Cords Part 4

Being justified freely by his grace through redemption that is in Christ Jesus:  whom God set forth to be a propitiation [reconciliation] through faith in his blood.  Romans 3:24-25
The word translated as "reconciliation" means actually "to cover."  This is what true reconciliation must do.  - Andrew Murray- The Power of the Blood of Jesus.
Going deeper in the Word on with last week's study of the cords (Numbers 3:26c).
He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.  Proverbs 26:28  KJV.
The Hebrew word for rule used here is Ma`tsar.  It means restraint, or control.  The context here is a man dealing with temptation.
A city without walls is like a tent with no cords (Jeremiah 10:20.)  It is very easily plundered.  And we talked about the fact that there is an enemy that wants to plunder your tent (and mine).
If it feels like we are reviewing it's because we are.  There's precedence for that in the scripture.  When Jesus wilderness in direct confrontation with the devil, He quoted scripture in three consecutive instances repeating, "It is written..."  (Luke 4:1-13).
Resistance training.  Doing repetitions.  Building spiritual discipline.  I just want to encourage you today that winning the war against temptation is a process.  Wherever you are in that process, there is help for you (Philippians 4:13).
I have a really good quote to share with you.  I was going to wait and share it with you tomorrow.  But I know you are hungry for it.
No one can transplant a heart of faith into you like it's a new body part.  Faith is more like a muscle you already have.  It just needs to be strengthened.  You have to be intentional about making it grow.  -Pastor Steven Furtick - Sun Stand Still.
